This year’s Mae Hall McCabe Award, a distinguished award given for exemplary community service by the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Chamber of Commerce, is awarded to SDTR.  The chamber sponsors the award to recognize proven and tireless commitment to community service that leads to the betterment of the local area.  Several criteria are considered:

  • a history of commendable volunteerism
  • sustained commitment to community service
  • meaningful altruistic efforts for the good and welfare of the community

This award is a tribute to the dedication and hard work of all SDTR’s volunteers, sponsors, and management.  And, of course, our wonderful hard-working horses without which the program would not be possible.  Thanks and congratulations to all!

The Mae Hall McCabe Award was established in 1977 in memory of Mae Hall McCabe, who opened her real estate office in 1937 and contributed to the needs and causes of the Rehoboth Beach area for more than 50 years.  She helped organize the Rehoboth Beach Chamber of Commerce and was later the first woman to hold the office of president for any Delaware chamber.

Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding (SDTR) knows the best stories come from the source, of course, and that’s always a faithful, hard-working Horse. And a dedicated Rider. And a nurturing Instructor. So, we headed to the stable!

We asked SDTR Riders, Horses and Instructors to share their stories to show how your support can empower a difference in the lives of Riders like Rhianna, her favorite horse Lydia and their Instructor Lauren.

LET'S SADDLE UP!

Welcome to the unofficial start of our Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding (SDTR) 2022 Do More 24 Delaware fundraiser.

We’re proud to again be part of this important and unique funding campaign with United Way – an exciting 24-hour online campaign that opens 6pm March 3 and closes 6pm March 4.

The goal is to create a purpose-driven opportunity to engage donors in immediate and critical funding needs.

Lynn Rogers and June Aydelotte graciously donated $6,000.00 to Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding to help continue their mission of providing excellent equine-assisted services for children and adults living with disabilities.

Funds from these donations will be used to support SDTR's daily operating costs, and help provide scholarships for riders who may need them.  SDTR relies on the generosity of donors  to help us to continue our mission, of helping to improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of children and adults living with disabilities.  SDTR has been operating in Sussex County for over 30 years, and still going strong.
