sdtr catWe are proud to again be part of the United Way’s DoMore24 Delaware (DM24DE) campaign March 2-3, 2023 with a fundraising goal of $20,000 to support accredited instruction, individualized horse care and resources for best-practice Holistic Equine Healthcare and Natural Horsemanship. Please mark your calendar to participate starting at 6 PM March 2nd through March 3rd  6 PM.

Herd Health and Well Being at SDTR comes from your donations, volunteer and staff hard work and the 24/7 companionship of our horses’ best friend, Gadget!

Mr. Gadget, Blue-Eyed Barn Cat

Collegial with therapy horses and encouraging with students, Gadget’s been known to saunter into the arena during a class and sit with a buddha-like serenity that casts a balanced, relaxed feline focus to horses, riders and instructors.

This supersized ginger ninja excels at managing mice, whether he’s doing reconnaissance from a hay bale or disappearing through one of the many “Gadget doors” carved to fit him perfectly. He’s often seen strolling the stable, checking in on his Herd buddies or chasing afternoon sun patches into one of his six beds on the grounds.

Despite his undefeated pest control record, “barn cat,” wasn’t a big enough title for this big boy…so he added “SDTR Ambassador.”  And yes, his charm is relentless.

Ask riders, families, staff or guests: Step inside the barn for a minute and you’ll sense a gentle “Welcome Friend!” tail curl around your ankle. Perhaps that’s why he’s showered with gifts by riders who refuse to leave, “…until we see Gadget!”

Saddle Up for What’s Next: Meet two very special SDTR family members who also enrich our Herd’s quality of life everyday with companionship and encouragement -- everyone’s favorite SDTR Barnyard Buddies Pygmy Goat Siblings Quigley and Willow!
