On October 13th we honored SDTR Major Donors at a reception for more than 50 guests at the farm. It was a special evening for us to express heartfelt thanks by unveiling our Major Donor Sign in the arena viewing area and our Major Partnerships Sign at the entrance to our facility in order to recognize those who helped build the facility.

SDTR has been chosen as an awardee of the Milton Award Program, which is an annual awards program honoring the achievements and accomplishments of local organizations throughout the Milton area. Recognition is given to those organizations that have shown the ability to use their best practices and implemented programs to generate competitive advantages and long-term value.

There’s a special flagpole you’ll pass at the main entrance of Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding that has more than a few stories to tell.
A 17-year-old boy who served our country in the Korean War and never returned is honored with a flagpole flying an American flag at the main entrance of Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding (SDTR).
On a warm Saturday in late September that pole flew our flag over three other veterans – now serving as SDTR volunteers – being honored for their military service.

We hope you are enjoying your summer. The Board Members at SDTR would like to communicate exciting updates and share with you the Therapeutic Riding Center’s achievements, which will bring a new higher level of service to our community. So please Saddle Up as we share some of our highlights.
This is an exciting time of wonderful growth for SDTR. We have been following our 3 -year Strategic Plan that our Instructors, Volunteers, and Board Members participated in creating. It includes action items and a Dashboard to track our progress towards meeting our goals and objectives defined in our Strategic Plan. Many of the updates below are based on that Plan.

SDTR has taken our Herd of Horses to a new level by putting in place new procedures for their care. We are pleased to be introducing new horses to our program. The riders and volunteers have enjoyed the new horses and have benefited from their calm and willing demeaner. We continue to improve the program and provide the best possible care for the horses and riders both physically and emotionally. Here is an update on our program and care for the horses.
